Both the Boys & Girls Water Polo teams continued their strong seasons with big victories over the weekend.

Menlo School, Sacred Heart Prep and Woodside High each turned in a successful weekend in boys' water polo tournaments, including big victories Saturday.

In girls' water polo action, Sacred Heart Prep split a pair of home nonleague games, beating Gunn 15-4 and losing to Acalanes 10-4.

At Harvard-Westlake, the Gators (6-1) advanced into the championship game by beating Loyola of Los Angeles, 13-12, in double overtime. Walker Seymour scored the game winner with 1:19 left in the second overtime.

Larsen Weigle, who added the assist on the game winner, scored the tying goal in the final second of the first overtime.

Weigle, who will be at Stanford next fall, scored five goals to lead Sacred Heart Prep. Will Riley added four and Seymour totaled three. Freshman goalie Griffen Price recorded 14 saves against the Cubs, who outshot SHP, 35-32, but were just 2 of 8 on power plays.

The Gators, who play at Serra in a West Catholic Athletic League contest Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., were 7 of 12 on power plays.

Host Harvard-Westlake reversed an earlier loss to SHP with a 12-5 victory in Saturday's championship game. The Wolverines scored the first three goals and maintained their edge throughout.

Weigle scored a goal in the final 1:13 of the second quarter to bring the Gators within 7-5 but were then held scoreless in the second half.

For the SHP girls, Eleanor Facey scored six goals in the win over Gunn and Ella Woodhead and Isabella Bachler each scored three times. Dasha Sokolova, Aleaxandra Szczerba and Ashley Penner also scored.

Nellie McAdams saved nine shots and did not allow a goal in her 14 minutes of action. Megan Norris made a pair of saves to finish off the win. The Gators (5-3) will compete at Menlo's Amanda McDonald Invitational next weekend.
