What if when you were in college, you had the opportunity to learn valuable skills of negotiation from a seasoned executive? Or discover the ins and outs of starting your own business from an entrepreneur? Or develop and hone your resume with practical experience in and exposure to your field of interest?

And what if your connection to Sacred Heart made these incredible experiences possible?

Knowing first-hand the value of a Sacred Heart education and the benefit of having fellow Gators as colleagues, SHS alumni professionals are pushing the doors wide open in a variety of industries, alerting us to internship opportunities targeted for our younger collegiate alumni or those in career transition.

    Internship openings are submitted by alumni, current and past parents, and friends of Sacred Heart, and posted on this site throughout the year, with particular emphasis given to summer opportunities.  Please bookmark this page, and check back frequently for new listings.

  • 2023 Summer Civil Engineer Assistant (Internship)

    BKF is looking for civil engineering interns in multiple offices!

    BKF is searching for civil engineering interns with strong technical abilities, and an interest in land development project design, transportation project design, or water resources who are able to work with a team of engineers on small and large projects. 

    Responsibilities:
    • geometric calculations and plotting (cross-sections, profiles, etc.)
    • routine hydraulics calculations
    • site grading calculations and plotting
    • computer and CAD systems usage
    • research/data collection from public agencies
    Requirements: 
    • Currently enrolled in B.S. Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent plus appropriate continuing education.
    • 1-2 years of specific civil engineering classes and/or other internship related experience.
    • Must have strong communication skills and be team-oriented.

  • Hedge Fund Operations Intern

    Seeking a hedge fund operations intern with an interest in investing. Applicants should be rising college Juniors or Seniors with prior office-environment experience (of any type).  Dates to be determined.  College Credit.  

    Cannell Capital is a value-oriented hedge fund with more than 20 years of investing history and a compound annual rate of return of sixteen percent since inception. We apply an equity long/short strategy in order to generate attractive absolute, risk-adjusted returns on the assets under management (approximately $300 million). Our general investment strategy is to apply bottom up fundamental research and seek investment opportunities caused by imperfect distribution of information in the universe of neglected stocks.  The investment universe is primarily small capitalization, publicly traded companies in North America.  
     
    Seeking intelligent, hard-working and detail-oriented young specialists who are keen to pursue a career in finance and who want to acquire practical experience with trading and operations aspects of the fund’s activity. The position provides interns with the opportunity to get accustomed to research flow management and learn industry specifics. 

    Learning opportunities
    • Learn organizational structure of the fund, including financial intermediaries involved, daily operational documentation flow, and basic accounting principles and performance measurement applied.
    • Get to know typical software tools, such as Bloomberg, Eze and Axys, all of which are frequently used by investment companies in order to support operations, research and trading activities.
    • Get familiar with capital markets in general and the universe of alternative investments universe in particular.
    Responsibilities
    • Update information about the fund’s operations using different sources (prime broker reports, Axys reports and other operational documents).
    • Compile fund’s monthly closing accounting summary from financial statements and audit reports.
    • Assist research team with data research gathering and top-down equity screening.
    • Perform reconciliations in order to control offsite advisors and brokers, check accuracy of accounting and bookkeeping and validity of certain trades and payments.
    • Update, analyze and manage operational information in order to evaluate performance of the fund on a monthly basis.

    Who We are Looking For:  Seeking interns ASAP to work directly with Candou core partner team to create content and help manage our website and social media. The responsibility could vary from writing blogs, to helping partners with planning and coordinating an event, conducting research and gathering data to source investments, and sending company updates to our Limited Partners.  For successful interns, we may extend the opportunity to continue on during school year.
    This unpaid internship is currently remote, and circumstances permitting could be on-site in Silicon Valley.
