SHS has eliminated standardized tests from the admission process. We will not request, accept or include the results of the HSPT/ISEE in a prospective student’s file.
From freshman year to senior year, Sacred Heart Preparatory’s students are challenged to think critically about society and its values, to thoughtfully participate in the exchange of ideas, to develop a social awareness supported by individual action, and to grow spiritually by connecting personal beliefs with contemporary culture.
The SHP curriculum emphasizes serious study and social responsibility, grounded in strong faith and taught in small, seminar-style classes. Students work in collaboration with teachers and the broader community to develop their own interests and purpose through our unique programs. A typical semester includes six academic courses including religious studies, which is taught from an inclusive, Christian framework. We believe that a SHP education prepares students for life beyond college, as they are called to actively participate in creating a more just and humane world.
Our Creative Inquiry hub is an interdisciplinary space, designed as both a class and a resource — giving students the freedom to explore and develop their passions, ask big questions, and solve problems while completing large-scale project based work.
Collaborative Learning
Small class sizes and seminar-style college prep courses allow students to engage deeply and meaningfully with their work. SHS offers 24 AP and 55 Honors courses, taught by educators who truly value the individual needs of each student.
Cultural Competence
As part of a network of 150+ schools worldwide, SHS students can participate in a robust cultural exchange program which deepens their understanding of others while fostering a broader sense of citizenship, on a global scale.
Social Responsibility
We challenge SHS students to think critically about the problems of our day, through a Catholic lens. At SHS, social responsibility is the foundation for a lifelong commitment to doing what is just. Participation in service projects, retreats, immersive trips alongside their religious studies helps students develop a personal and active faith in God.
Character Building
Students grow in confidence and character through the work they do and the interests they pursue. With over 22 sports programs, 43 teams and a range of Fine Arts disciplines including Photography, Drama/Theater, Dance, Studio Art, Choral and Instrumental Music, Digital Arts, there is something here for everyone to fuel their spirit, develop their gifts and build character.
Community First
Building community as a Christian value is intrinsic to who we are. We make time to recognize the moments, personal relationships and individual gifts that define our time together. SHS community events are often the highlight of student life and we celebrate that. On campus or in the virtual classroom, the bond of community remains a hallmark of an SHS education.
