SHS has eliminated standardized tests from the admission process. We will not request, accept or include the results of the HSPT/ISEE in a prospective student’s file.
“Let us respect childhood; let us honor the soul of that small creature of God who can already make choices of the best if we take the time to awaken her reason and judgment."
SELF - DISCOVERY
Lower School is a time of transition and tremendous growth. It also presents the unique opportunity for children to further develop their independence and personal responsibility. SHS fosters a rich atmosphere in which this phase of learning and self-discovery is cultivated and celebrated. Kindergarten - Grade 5 students engage in dynamic curricular and co-curricular work which nurtures the whole child: intellect, spirit, and body.
TEAMWORK
Students are encouraged to think about their connectedness to the broader community in which they discover partners, teammates and friends. Together, students learn and solve problems with respect for the unique perspectives of others and for the environment they share.
DISCOVERY
Academic growth is tied to self-discovery. Within the curriculum, students also explore their own heritage and history; giving them a sense of belonging and purpose in the context of the larger world.
FOUNDATIONS
SHS fosters an environment where students learn foundational concepts in STEAM and Language with interest, joy and strength. Our holistic approach encourages young learners to create with their minds, their hands, their voice and their hearts.
THE WHOLE CHILD
We view our students as the presence of God; each with inherent dignity and divine purpose. It is our job to nurture their individual spirits, guide them in their academic pursuits and prepare them to participate in a more just world.
