Fleischli & Lindquist lead Gators to PAL win

Palo Alto Online
Reece Lindquist collected three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs to support Nathan Fleischli's one-hitter in Sacred Heart Prep's 8-0 victory over host Capuchino in a Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division baseball game Friday.

Sacred Heart Prep (8-5-1, 4-2) is in third place, a half-game behind leader Carlmont (8-3, 4-1) and in a virtual tie with Burlingame (5-2, 3-1).

Fleischli was in control from the start. He gave up a two-out double in the first, another runner reached on an error in the second and that was it.

Fleischli retired the last 17 batters in succession. He struck out 11, did not issue a walk and faced two over the minimum.

He started 19 of the 23 batters he faced with a strike and even with the number of strikeouts, still needed just 73 pitches to complete the game, or an average of 10.4 pitches an inning.

Lindquist led off the second inning with his home run, the only run Fleischli needed. The Gators continued to add on, scoring three times in the fourth and seventh and getting a run in the sixth.

SH Prep turned in nothing but productive at-bats in the fourth. Yianni Gardner singled to lead off the fourth and stole second. Lindquist walked and Braden Fitzgerald singled to load the bases.

Will Moldow hit a sacrifice fly to right field for a run and Teddy Purcell's fielder's choice chased home another run. Alex Kim singled to drive in a run and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.

Purcell added a sacrifice fly in the sixth while Lindquist, Fitzgerald and Moldow each added an RBI in the seventh.

Sacred Heart Prep hosts The King's Academy at 4 p.m Wednesday.
