RSCJ Dee Copland takes us through her meditation session
The practice of meditation is ancient universal wisdom and teaches us to become present to the present moment. Meditation is a practice of experience – the experience of the whole of us – physical and mental. It brings us to stillness, silence, and wholeness. Meditation is a way of prayer – a way of prayer without word, thoughts, images.
Daily fidelity to the practice is basically all that is required. Incorporating meditation into one’s life is a discipline, a daily discipline, and eventually a discipline of joy.
Children take quite easily to meditation as they are accustomed to living in the present – the present moment. They have not yet lost that joy of life. If we can help children to know and to experience meditation, we are giving them a life gift.
