Sacred Heart School’s Lower & Middle School Art Show incorporates more than ever our community’s mission and values of Goal III: “A social awareness which impels to action.” Galvanized by our need to address a legacy of racism and inequality, and created during a pandemic—when the need for communication and expression has been so crucial—our art projects have incorporated social justice, climate change issues, and other current events. The projects also teach technical art skills, art history, and social-emotional learning.
Working mostly in their home art studios, students completed projects in a wide range of art materials and connected to core curriculum across all grade levels. Lower school students finished the year working on campus for a month, creating ceramic projects and bringing our beautiful art studio to life.
Now more than ever we want our young artists to develop meaning and significance in their lives and the lives of others—making art is the perfect arena for this personal growth. Please take some time to view the 2020-21 Virtual Art Show—we hope you are as impressed as we are!
