SHP Girls’ Basketball Wins CCS Title
The Gators defeated Scotts Valley 52-51
In thrilling fashion, the Sacred Heart Prep girls’ basketball team edged Scotts Valley, 52-51, to capture the Central Coast Section (CCS) Division IV title on Mar. 5 at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz. The Gators sealed the victory off a Ma’ata Makoni free throw with 23.6 seconds left in regulation en route to winning the program’s 13th section title and first since 2002.
With victory, SHP improves to 20-6 on the year and advances to the Northern California Division IV game. The Gators will host the winner of the Arcata versus Central Valley matchup on Saturday, Mar. 12 at 6 p.m. in McGanney Gym.
