The senior captured Sacred Heart Prep’s first Central Coast Section girls’ cross country title in 16 years by running to gold in the Division IV race with a time of 17 minutes, 42.78 seconds Saturday morning at Crystal Springs. Novitsky topped second-place finisher Mari Friedman by over 13 seconds.
Jane Rakow, Sacred Heart Prep girls’ water polo. The senior keeper put on a show as SHP continued its water polo dynasty with its 10th consecutive CCS title. The Gators persevered in the defensive showdown for a 7-3 victory over Soquel as Rakow recorded 16 saves.
Andrew Churukian, Sacred Heart Prep boys’ water polo. The SHP boys won their sixth consecutive CCS title in Saturday’s Division II championship match with a 13-9 victory over archrival Menlo School. Churukian was one of three Gators to tab a hat trick — along with Alex Tsotadze and Larsen Weigle — and also had a team-high four goals in SHP’s semifinal win over Soquel.
