The junior quarterback threw for 253 yards and a touchdown in his debut as a starter, leading the Gators past Carlmont 28-7 in team's season-opener on Saturday. He threw a 37-yard scoring toss to Dante Cacchione to open the scoring.

In addition to Purcell, Elena Radeff (Girls Volleyball) was named Honorable Mention Athlete of the Week. Elena had 15 kills in a sweep of crosstown-rival Menlo, finishing the Spikefest I Tournament with 57, as SHP finished 6th overall of 32 teams.
