For the past ten years, Holly has been a steady and inspiring force within our Athletic Department. Whether serving as Head Athletic Trainer or Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance, she has approached every challenge with uncommon care, professionalism, and heart. Holly has elevated the student-athlete experience at SHP through her deep commitment to wellness, her fierce advocacy for safety, and her tireless work behind the scenes to ensure that athletes, coaches, and teams could thrive.
Her many contributions—empowering coaches through thoughtful education, guiding athletes through recovery with compassion and clarity, and building systems and relationships that sustain our programs—have helped shape the culture and direction of SHP Athletics in lasting ways. She has consistently set the standard for what it means to serve with both expertise and empathy.
Holly’s presence on the sidelines, in the training room, and among colleagues has been marked by trust, accountability, and joy. She’s mentored staff, uplifted students, and represented SHP’s values with pride and purpose. From leading campus-wide safety efforts to serving as a regional voice in the athletic training profession, she has not only supported our programs—she has advanced our entire school community.
As she brings her gifts into the classroom this fall as our new Health and Wellness teacher, we are filled with gratitude. Her continued influence at SHP ensures that our students will benefit from her insight, warmth, and commitment in new and exciting ways.
“Holly’s leadership has been a defining force in SHP Athletics over the last decade,” said Jason Armstrong, Assistant Principal for Athletics. “She leads with heart, teaches through action, and supports with unshakable integrity. Her mentorship, her friendship, and her belief in the potential of every student-athlete have left a mark on this community that will endure long after she steps away from her current role. Everyone who works with Holly is better because of it—I know I am."
At the same time, we are excited to welcome Christina Okubo as SHP’s new Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance. A familiar face in the WBAL, Christina comes to SHP from Notre Dame Belmont with more than 20 years of experience guiding student-athletes and building strong athletic programs. Her background includes extensive time working with collegiate athletes at Stanford, as well as certification as both a Board Certified Athletic Trainer and a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Strength and Conditioning Specialist—benchmarks of excellence in the field.
Christina is also an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional growth and excellence in athletic healthcare. Her combination of hands-on clinical expertise, administrative leadership, and a wellness-focused philosophy will be a tremendous asset to our community.
Dr. Holly Brown will be deeply missed in her role within SHP Athletics, where she has been a trusted colleague, a steady leader, and an unwavering advocate for our students. At the same time, we’re excited to welcome Christina Okubo to the team this fall. Her experience, professionalism, and student-centered approach will serve our programs well. This transition reflects our continued investment in the health, development, and success of our student-athletes.
