Parents of Alumni

You Are Always Part of Sacred Heart

Whether your child(ren) attended SHS recently or several years ago, you will always be considered part of this community. As parents of alumni (PALs), you play an important role in connecting our past, present, and future,  and your continued involvement helps ensure that our school  thrives well into the next century.

The PALs program offers multiple ways to reconnect with old friends, learn about new school initiatives, and stay active within our vibrant community.  From spiritual, enrichment, and service activities, to athletic, arts, and  social events--whatever your interest, the PALs program operates a regular and full schedule each school year. In addition, a quarterly PALs newsletter enables you to stay up-to-date on the latest news and special invitations.

The group will begin with The Great Mysteries by Andrew Greeley, which is a classic introduction to the notion of mystery. Mystery describes the human capacity to recognize and participate in God's presence.

Then we will move on to one of the most important spiritual texts of the 20th century: Thomas Merton's Seven Storey Mountain.  This friendly text is a classic that comes out of Merton's discovery of his relationship with God.

Sally Vance-Trembath earned her doctorate from the University of Notre Dame; she teaches in the Religious Studies Department at Santa Clara University where she was voted one of the 10 best teachers in 2015.  She is frequently invited to speak to the media about Catholic matters.

This gathering is simple (and based on a 1,900 year old approach called "lectio divina").  It is a more visceral (vs. analytic) reflection on a scripture passage, and includes time for personal and shared prayer, resolution and prayers for others.  No experience necessary, and all faith traditions are welcome!

PALs Class Representatives

With so many families rooted in the Sacred Heart community for the duration of their children's early academic years--a span that can last up to 15 years per child, preschool through grade 12--it's no wonder that parents of alumni remain among our most ardent school supporters. PALs class reps help keep Gator pride alive, maintaining communication between the school and PALs, promoting events, and keeping the school apprised of alumni news and changing contact information. They help ensure past parent connections and interests are maintained with each other and Sacred Heart Schools.

The SHP Class of 2018 PALs Cass Reps are Elizabeth Kerrigan and Jeanine Tonas.
