Chloe Zheng (SHS ’33) Performs at Carnegie Hall
At just nine years old, student shines on the piano
Chloe Zheng (SHS ‘33), a third grader at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (SHS), performed at Carnegie Hall last December, having been invited to perform at the prestigious venue after receiving second place in The Royal 2023 International Piano Competition, at the age of only eight years old. Now nine, she performed the Beethoven piece, 7 Bagatelles, Op. 33 - 5. Allegro, ma non troppo, on piano. “Witnessing her performance was indeed a proud moment for our family,” said her parents, Xiaobin Zheng and Tianchi Li, who credited the “exceptional education and support” their daughter has received at SHS as key to her success.
“There are numerous children who put in immense effort into mastering the piano yet struggle to shine when they take the stage. Chloe, however, has consistently been able to present her best self on stage with poise and confidence. This, we believe, is largely due to the nurturing environment and opportunities provided to her at school,” said Li.
Zheng has enjoyed the music education received at SHS, especially the “chance to accompany the ensembles and study music compositions,” and looks forward to pursuing other musical opportunities at SHS in the future.
