SHP Exchange Program

AN EXCHANGE ENHANCES THE SACRED HEART EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE, BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS ACROSS THE INTERNATIONAL SACRED HEART COMMUNITY WHILE FOSTERING SELF-CONFIDENCE, INDEPENDENCE, AND GLOBAL AWARENESS IN A SECURE, SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT.
One of the unique advantages of attending a Sacred Heart school is that students are automatically part of a global network of over 150 schools. Qualifying sophomores and juniors students have the opportunity to spend 2-6 weeks at one of these schools, living with a host family and later hosting an international student in their home and at SHP. Students benefit from experiencing a Sacred Heart education from a different perspective, while being immersed in the local culture and language. Being a truly 1:1 reciprocal program, participating host families build a trusting relationship that crosses borders, rooted in their common desire for their children to expand their worldview and deepen their cultural awareness and empathy.

  • SHP Families say...

"My daughter grew her language skills, her independence, her sense of wonder and desire to be an international citizen. The student match that was spot on. We have a life-long friendship and our family as a whole feels like it expanded. We learned about being flexible, inquisitive, asking both smart (and silly) questions, leaning into shared values especially around family and food, and just embracing fun!"

"This experience was such a blessing to our family. We were matched beautifully with our partner family. They took wonderful care of our son, and we worked hard to do the same for theirs. We looked at our family life from a different perspective and found ourselves discovering more joy in everyday things, because he saw everything through fresh eyes."
  • SHP Students say...

"I grew immensely as a person, student, world traveller and Spanish speaker to name a few. I learned a lot about myself as a person and who I want to become."

"They made me feel at home and comfortable in the daily life and culture of their family. Her sisters were the best at helping me understand new phrases and slang in the language and I always had someone to talk with!"
