SHS has eliminated standardized tests from the admission process. We will not request, accept or include the results of the HSPT/ISEE in a prospective student’s file.
“We bring up the children for the future, not for the present…Therefore they must leave us with some self-knowledge, some energy, some purpose.”
—Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ
PURPOSE
From freshman year to senior year, Sacred Heart Preparatory’s students are challenged to think critically about society and its values, to thoughtfully participate in the exchange of ideas, to develop a social awareness supported by individual action, and to grow spiritually by connecting personal beliefs with contemporary culture.
The SHP curriculum emphasizes serious study and social responsibility, grounded in strong faith and taught in small, seminar-style classes. Students work in collaboration with teachers and the broader community to develop their own interests and purpose through our unique programs. A typical semester includes six academic courses including religious studies, which is taught from an inclusive, Christian framework. We believe that a SHP education prepares students for life beyond college, as they are called to actively participate in creating a more just and humane world.
THE WHOLE CHILD
We view our students as the presence of God; each with inherent dignity and divine purpose. It is our job to nurture their individual spirits, guide them in their academic pursuits and prepare them to participate in a more just world.
