San Mateo County/SHS is currently in the PURPLE TIER
, which is most restrictive and indicates widespread COVID-19 virus transmission/activity.
- Under state restrictions, schools that fall in counties in the PURPLE TIER:
- may continue to operate an in-person preschool.
- may apply for a waiver to move forward on re-opening grades K-6 in-person instruction.
- may not move forward to reopen middle or high school grades (7-12) in-person instruction until the county has been upgraded to, and remains in, the RED TIER for a period of 14 days. Note: Schools that had returned grades 7-12 for in-person instruction prior to the recent tier downgrade may continue.
