Sacred Heart Prep, Menlo finish among top five at Spikefest

The SHP Girls Volleyball team finished in 3rd place at the Spikefest Invitational, the highest finish in program history.
Sacred Heart Prep and Menlo School each won four of its five girls volleyball matches on Saturday to finish in the top five of the 32-team Spikefest at Independence and Milpitas high schools.
Sacred Heart Prep went 3-0 in Bracket C, earning victories over Independence 25-11, 25-9, Carlmont, 25-17, 25-10 and Valley Christian 23-25, 25-22, 15-12.
The Gators qualified for the Championship Division, where they lost to Mitty 25-16, 25-22, in the semifinals and came back to beat Notre Dame Belmont 21-25, 25-7, 15-13 for third place overall, their highest finish at the Spikefest.
Sacred Heart Prep (5-1) visits Menlo-Atherton for a 6:30 nonleague match Tuesday, while Palo Alto (4-2) travels to Mitty for a 6 p.m. start, Los Altos (3-3) hosts Leland with a 6:45 p.m. first serve and Gunn (3-3) hosts Hillsdale at 6:45 p.m.
