George Washington's Zachary Pendolino (SHP '18) has been named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week for his play in a pair of home wins last weekend.
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington's Zachary Pendolino has been named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week for his play in a pair of home wins last weekend.
Pendolino totaled three goals on four shots and added an assist and three steals over the two games. The first-year from California notched a goal, an assist, three steals and an ejection drawn in Friday's 21-5 win over Austin College before connecting on both of his shots in Sunday's 20-6 win over Connecticut College.
Atakan Destici earned a spot on the Player of the Week Honor Roll after tallying a team-high eight goals, including the 200th of his career, on the weekend, while senior goalkeeper Matt Taylor (19 saves) was recognized on the Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll.
The 19th-ranked Colonials (15-5, 5-2 MAWPC) return to action on Friday at 7 p.m., hosting Navy in an MAWPC matchup at Charles E. Smith Center Pool.
