Sacred Heart Prep scored four runs in the second inning and that was all pitchers Nathan Fleischli and Dominic Cacchione needed in the Gators' 4-3 victory over visiting Carlmont in a Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division contest Wednesday.
Ryan Friere and Kyle Cody each singled home a run, Jack Donnelly was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Yianni Gardner walked to force in a run.
Sacred Heart Prep (14-4, 5-1) managed four hits but was issued six walks and took advantage to move into sole possession of first place ahead of Carlmont (9-9, 4-2).
The Gators travel to Carlmont for a game Friday at 4 p.m.
Fleischli (4-1) got the win after allowing two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. Cacchione recorded the final five outs for his third save.
Elsewhere in the PAL Bay Division, Menlo School managed two hits in a 9-0 loss to host Burlingame. Knights starter Kevin Alarcon gave up two earned runs on seven hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Menlo (6-9, 2-3) hosts Burlingame at 4 p.m. Friday.
Aidan Berger singled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of sixth inning to lift host Palo Alto past Los Altos, 4-2, Wednesday.
The Vikings (13-6, 6-1) are in first place in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League Der Anza Division by percentage points over Los Gators (14-5, 7-2).
Niko Lillios collected two hits for Palo Alto, which travels to Los Altos to play at 4 p.m. Nathan Willis and Max Jung-Goldberg each drove in a run for the Vikings.
James Roake earned the victory with 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Boys Lacrosse
Tommy Barnds scored seven times, Ben Ramsey added four and Sacred Heart Prep topped visiting Mitty, 21-3, Wednesday in a West Catholic Athletic League match.
Teddy Vought scored twice and added five assists for the Gators (10-2, 5-0), who host Marin Academy at 4 p.m. Friday in a nonleague match.
