Katherine Salisbury, Isa Robinson and Noorayn Jafri each won important singles matches, leading Sacred Heart Prep past visiting St. Francis, 5-2, in a nonleague girls tennis match Monday.

Lindsey Marcus and Sarah McGrath and Emma Tung and Sarah Quinlan helped make the difference in doubles play for the Gators (8-3), who travel to Crystal Springs Uplands for a West Bay Athletic League contest at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Sacred Heart Prep's victory over the Lancers (6-4), who play Sacred Heart Cathedral at 3:30 p.m. Thursday on the tennis courts at San Francisco State, is significant for a few reasons.

Even if St. Francis was not at full strength, come CCS seeding time, the win will count in the Gators' favor. Also, the Lancers (2-0 in the WCAL) own wins over both Menlo School and Menlo-Atherton, both favored to win their respective league titles.

Sacred Heart Prep (3-1 in the WBAL) still has a home match remaining with the Knights in two weeks and the Gators could be at full strength by then.

Palo Alto warmed up for Tuesday's SCVAL De Anza Division 3:30 p.,m. match against visiting Los Gatos by knocking off Castilleja, 6-1, in a nonleague match at Rinconada Park.

The Vikings (8-5) swept singles play with Maddi Page, Isa Cossio, Claire Li and Anuva Banwasi each winning in straight sets

Mabelle Pasmooij and Roxana Scott won at No. 1doubles for Castilleja (8-6), which travels to Pinewood for a league match at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
