Prep Report: Sacred Heart Prep Seniors Go Out With a Win

Alex Harper, Max Comilli, Jack Stone and Jack Homer each swept their singles matches and Sacred Heart Prep sent its seniors out on a good note, beating visiting Priory 7-0 in the WBAL regular-season boys tennis finale on Thursday.

The victory moved the Gators (12-8, 9-5) into a third-place tie with Crystal Springs Uplands, which split their matches this season, each winning at home.

Menlo School completed its undefeated league season with a 7-0 victory over host Nueva on Thursday.

The Knights (20-2, 14-0) walked off with their 21st consecutive league title and go into next season carrying a state record 254-match winning streak in league play.

The two-day WBAL tournament begins Monday at 1:30 p.m., hosted by Menlo School.

The Central Coast Section seeding meeting for both team and individual tennis will take place on May 1, with the team tournament getting underway two days later.

The individual tournament commences on May 16.

The CCS boys team and individual golf tournament will be seeded on May 4, with regional play getting underway on May 9.

Seeding meetings and postseason competition for boys volleyball, boys and girls swimming, and badminton begins in the first two weeks of May as well.

Girls Lacrosse

Annie Payne and Grace Tully each scored three goals and Menlo-Atherton maintained its winning ways, beating host Sacred Heart Prep 12-6 in a WBAL match Thursday.

Grace Johnson and Allison Carter gave the Gators (3-8, 3-3) an early advantage but M-A responded with a 6-0 run to take charge of the contest.

Emma Easton and Audrey Koren each added a pair of goals for the Bears (11-5, 5-1), while Hannah Shaw, who had an assist, took care of the draws and Grace Chitouras and Kelly Woods helped the defense in front of goalie Sammie Gamez.

Sacred Heart Prep was led by Cam Gordon with three goals. Carter added a pair of assists and Emma Briger recorded nine saves.

Menlo-Atherton plays at Menlo (10-2, 5-0) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. looking to even the score with the Knights, who handed M-A its lone league loss of the season.

Menlo has a match with Castilleja on Friday at 3 p.m., to be played at El Camino Park. Sacred Heart Prep travels to St. Francis for a 7 p.m. match Tuesday.
