No. 10 Sacred Heart Prep, which finished third in the West Bay Athletic League, went on the road and beat host No. 7 San Leandro 56-52 in the first round of the NorCal playoffs.
The Gators (16-9) get back on the road for a trip to Clovis (22-9) in the second round Thursday at 7 p.m.
The teams have two common opponents. Both lost to Pinewood and both beat San Leandro.
Boys Basketball
Sacred Heart Prep broke loose in the second half of its 61-40 victory over Alameda in the first round of its NorCal basketball playoff opener on Tuesday.
After spotting their visitors a 24-22 halftime advantage, the Gators outscored No. 14th-seeded Alameda 39-16 to run away with the contest.
Charlie Selna scored 16 points to lead No. 3 seed Sacred Heart Prep (22-5), which hosts a second-round game against Branson at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Jai Deshpande added 10 points, Aidan Braccia had nine and Emmer Nichols and Everett Banks each added eight.
No. 6 Branson (30-2) beat No. 11 Jesuit 51-43 to advance.
