Catholic Musician, Storyteller Jesse Manibusan Visits SHS

The performer appeared on stage at the LMS to mark Catholic Schools Week
SHS has joined schools nationwide in celebration of Catholic Schools Week Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Today, world-renowned Catholic singer-songwriter and storyteller Jesse Manibusan performed at the LMS for GR 1-8 students during morning assembly.

“We are lucky to have Jesse visit and share his wisdom with us, especially during Catholic Schools Week,” said John Michael Reyes, P-8 spiritual life coordinator and director of prayer and worship. “It is my hope that from Jesse’s stories and songs, combined with humor, music, and a message of hope, that our students will remember they’re loved by God.”

Manibusan’s songs are found in hymnals internationally, including Open My Eyes and All Are Welcome, the latter of which was sung by Sacred Heart network schools throughout the last academic year as a reminder to live Goal IV: The building of community as a Christian value.

“I believe in this song for our school because it is a prophetic stance in a world that is increasingly divisive, but especially because it’s a joyful sound of hope that our community needs to have on their lips,” said Reyes.

As Manibusan reminded SHS attendees at the performance: one of the best ways to live out Catholic faith is “by believing that all are welcome… We do that through humility, vulnerability, courage, and solidarity. This is what the Church needs, and you are part of that great circle.”
