SHP's Bellack shines at All-America lacrosse tournament

Sasha Bellack, who will be a senior at Sacred Heart Prep in the fall, earned 'Standout' mention at the recently concluded girls lacrosse Under Armour All-America Underclass Tournament, Highlight Division in Maryland.

Bellack, who announced her commitment to play at Tufts, helped the Gators win a Central Coast Section Division IV girls soccer title in the winter and helped the girls lacrosse team win the West Bay Athletic League championship in the spring.

Bellack was named the WBAL Defender of the Year on both the soccer and lacrosse All-League teams.

"Bellack is a strong, solid team defender. She uses her speed to carry the ball up the field and draws defenders to create plays," wrote ILWomen.com.

In addition to Bellack, who played for the West all-stars in Maryland, the division also included Stanford commits Ashley Humphrey and Sarah Looney.

Humphrey, who will be a senior at Darien High in Connecticut, was an all-tournament pick She scored five goals and four assists in the championship match. Her younger sister, Chloe Humphrey, who will be a freshman at Darien in the fall, was named MVP of the Command Division.

Looney will be a senior at Glen Ridge High in New Jersey and earned 'Standout' status for her efforts in the midfield.

Stanford incoming freshmen Kara Rahaim and Jay Browne competed in the Under Armour All-America contest. Rahaim, who graduated from Ridgewood High in New Jersey, is a goalie. Browne, a graduate of the Episcopal School of Dallas, is an attacker.
