Sacred Heart Prep won't be playing another West Catholic Athletic League boys lacrosse match for three weeks and that one should be a doozy.

Tommy Barnds scored five goals and recorded three assists to help the Gators beat Mitty 15-6 in a league contest Thursday in San Jose, setting up a match with St. Ignatius (11-0, 5-0) on May 1 in Atherton with the regular season title at stake.

The Wildcats beat SHP in this game last year, though the Gators (13-0, 6-0) came back to win the WCAL playoff championship.

Neither SHP nor SI will be idle. The Gators have two matches scheduled in the Washington D.C. area next week, meeting Gonzaga on Wednesday and then on to St. Paul's in Maryland the next day.

There's also a couple of matches slated when SHP returns to the Bay Area.

The Wildcats have five nonleague matches scheduled over the next two weeks, with a three-game trip through New York in the middle of it.

The Gators final five opponents are a combined 46-11 as of Thursday and two of them are undefeated. For St. Ignatius, its final opponents are currently 49-16, with three undefeated teams among them.

Wilson Weisel added a pair of goals and three assists in the win over Mitty. Larry Hart had two goals and two assists and Patrick Hagerty and Joe Sonsini each added a pair. Cody Wiebe made seven saves.
