SHP Boys/Girls Basketball and Boys Soccer victorious in WBAL action

The Varsity Girls Basketball team rallied from an early deficit to beat Priory and take over sole possession of fourth place in the WBAL. Meanwhile, the Varsity Boys Soccer team remained perfect on the season, defeating Priory 7-0. 

Boys Basketball
Junior guard Ryan von Thaden scored a career-high 19 points to lead Sacred Heart Prep past Pinewood on Thursday. It was his second double-digit scoring game of the season and the fourth of his career.

von Thaden, who leads the Gators (10-10, 7-3) with 42 assists and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.31-1, has a scoring average of 4.5. 

Brendan Carney added 13 points while Selna and Pleasants combined for another 18 points.

SH Prep hosts Menlo at 6:30 p.m. Saturday while Pinewood (9-11, 1-9) hosts Crystal Springs Upland at 12:30 p.m., also Saturday.


Girls Basketball

Zoe Zaharias scored 14 points, Denise Stine had 11 and Sacred Heart Prep outlasted visiting Priory, 53-47, in a West Bay Athletic League girls basketball contest Thursday.

Zion Gabriel scored 22 points, including five 3-pointers, and Eastside Prep topped host Notre Dame Belmont, 56-31, while Menlo School took care of visiting Notre Dame San Jose, 75-38 in other WBAL games.

Sacred Heart Prep (13-8, 4-5) rallied from an early deficit to beat the Panthers (10-10, 3-5) and take over sole possession of fourth place.

Kennedy Anderson, Caroline Barclay and Megan Norris each contributed eight points for the Gators, who host Menlo at 5 p.m. Saturday,

Boys Soccer
Sacred Heart Prep slammed visiting Priory, 7-0, and Menlo downed host The King's Academy, 4-0, to remain the top two teams in the WBAL and setting up an 11 a.m. showdown Saturday at Menlo.

Aidan Bassett, Alex Moretti, Liam Johnson, Alexi Stravropoulos, Kevin Box, Tommy Hogan and Max Sloat each scored for the Gators (13-0-1, 7-0).
