Network of Sacred Heart Schools

Founded in 1898 by the Society of Sacred Heart (RSCJ), Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton is a Catholic, independent, coeducational day school for students in preschool through grade 12.

Located on a beautiful 64-acre campus that blends more than 100+ years of tradition with modern, state-of-the-art facilities, Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton works to fulfill our mission of educating the whole child; to cultivate in our students a personal and active faith in God; and to lay the foundation for a meaningful life.

Who We Are

Drawing upon the charism of the Religious of the Sacred Heart and guided by the
five Goals and Criteria, we are an institution that honors values. A Sacred Heart
education prepares students for a lifetime, one where learning isn't limited to just
classrooms and textbooks. It's an education that inspires students to be inquisitive
about the world and lets them discover the joys of lifelong learning. Our rigorous
academic program challenges students to think critically and creatively, while promoting a
deep respect for intellectual values. Small class sizes and student-centered learning
activities ensure that all students are engaged on a daily basis.

Our highly skilled faculty utilize a variety of teaching strategies, technological tools,
and ongoing educational research and evaluation methods to support the academic
growth and  success of each child.

As a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, we benefit
significantly from the Network's rich history, deep heritage, and commitment to
fostering active, informed, and responsible global citizens. In addition to vibrant
athletic and fine arts programs, students participate in a wide range of community
service and social justice projects that assist them in developing an awareness of and
responsibility for our everchanging multicultural world.

Our website provides a glimpse of what encompasses a Sacred Heart education and
is an invitiation to conversation. We welcome your interest in our school community
and look forward to meeting your family.
