SHS global initiative opportunities are purposefully designed to advance peace, social justice, and worldwide solidarity.
The development of a strong global perspective, cross-cultural understanding, and caring, human relationships is at the heart of St. Madeleine Sophie’s vision for the Society of the Sacred Heart and for the Sacred Heart Schools that have been established in more than 30 countries around the world. At SHS, this concept comes to life in the classroom, through enrichment programs and community service, and in the relationships built within the international network of Sacred Heart Schools. Global initiatives at Sacred Heart span both the academic and experiential, and are deeply rooted in the spirit of the Goals and Criteria.
Complementing the educational experience, opportunities for domestic and international student exchange both foster community among the greater network of Sacred Heart Schools and promote self-confidence, self-reliance, and personal growth.
As SHS is a member of an international consortia of leading independent schools and part of the worldwide Sacred Heart network, students have the opportunity to take innovative web-based classes from world-class faculty and to learn in collaboration with students from around the globe.
The SHS India Project works to build bridges with the Sacred Heart educational institutions in that country by raising awareness, funding, and other means of support for the extraordinary work being done by the RSCJ and Sacred Heart educators in Mumbai and rural India.
Model United Nations offers high school students the opportunity to experience the challenge of UN diplomacy by becoming international ambassadors trying to solve simulated global crisises. The SHP Model UN Team participates in the Stanford Model UN and Berkeley Model UN conferences each year.
