Real & Flextime Learning

Sacred Heart Schools responds to the changing times and continues its excellent education based on the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart. This section outlines how we support students emotionally, spiritually, and socially. We hope this gives you a glimpse into the care and depth of our commitment to the development of the whole child whether we are together physically or remotely.

  • Preschool & Kindergarten

Teachers in the Preschool and Kindergarten are engaging their students remotely in a variety of ways. Every morning they do a Morning Meeting similar to what they do physically in class. They also set up individual check-ins with their students to provide some one-on-one time. Teachers are creating videos, post daily 'assignments' and personalized Montessori jobs to meet the student's skill level.

  • Lower School (Grades 1-5)

First - Fifth-grade students attend synchronous Morning Meetings with their homeroom teacher. During Morning Meeting, teachers share expectations for assignments, build community, and address student concerns. Teachers provide teaching videos, small group instruction, and one-to-one support.

Physical activity is very important for students who are spending so much time on screens. PE teachers post workout resources, such as sport-specific fitness and skill development activities. In addition, PE teachers provide live lessons for students in grades 1-5.

The GSuite and Schoology used for flex-time. Additionally, teachers use a variety of tools depending on their subject. Some of the tools teachers use are Kahoot, Adobe Creative Cloud, Flipgrid, Nearpod, Albert I.O. and Code.org to name a few.  The teachers use a variety of websites and the SHS library databases to supplement their curriculum. Screencastify or other screencasting software is used by teachers to screencast their lectures and provide additional tutorials to students. Students also use Screencastify to show their work to their teachers.
