Sacred Heart Prep overcame an 18-point halftime deficit to beat St. Mary's-Berkeley, 63-60, at the Piedmont Hills MLK Shootout on Saturday.
The Gators outscored St. Mary's, 46-25, in the second half to rally for the win and set up a rivalry game against visiting Menlo on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Tevin Panchal scored 22 points to lead the Gators (6-7). Eric DeBrine added 19.
Menlo-Atherton (10-3) took an early lead and then held on to beat visiting Monte Vista-Danville, 49-44.
After Menlo senior Jack Gold read portions of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech, the Knights took on California of San Ramon on Saturday, losing, 77-65, in a tight game in the 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Tournament at Piedmont High.
Menlo (8-4), which entered the game on a five-game win streak, jumped out early leading 21-11 after the first then by one at the half. The Grizzlies (6-10) pulled ahead with a 28-point third period.
Junior Thomas Brown led Menlo with 23 points and 12 rebounds. He added three assists. Riley Woodson, also a junior, scored 15 and had eight rebounds and five deflections. JH Tevis added 10 points and seven rebounds and senior Hayden Pegley had six rebounds.
Menlo trailed 63-60 with four minutes remaining but California, which had 14 three-pointers for the game, made its free throws down the stretch. The Knights play at Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday.
