Gators in Rio: Clark Wins Gold, Sheldon Aims for Bronze

KK Clark (SHP '08) is the first Sacred Heart water polo gold medalist

KK Clark (SHP ’08) can now add Olympic gold medalist to her lengthy list of accolades. A member of the U.S. Women’s Water Polo 13-member 2016 Rio roster, she helped Team USA capture back-to-back Olympic gold medals with a 12-5 victory over Italy on Aug. 19. 
 
In her first Summer Games, Clark served as a quality sub off the bench and scored two goals. The 6-2 defender, who had a hand in the U.S. outscoring opponents 73-31 over the six-game tournament, is the first Sacred Heart water polo Olympian and gold medalist.
 
 
 
 
Sheldon, USA Volleyball Plays for Bronze
 
Denise Sheldon (SJS ’93, SHP ’97) and the U.S. Women’s Volleyball team will look to rebound after a semifinals loss to Serbia in the bronze-medal game on Aug. 20 versus the Netherlands at 9 a.m. PT.
 
Sheldon is also in her first Olympic Games as head of delegation for Team USA.
 
 
Sacred Heart in Rio
 
Sacred Heart is well represented in Rio this summer, as nine alumane across the international network are representing four countries in eight different sports. Among the world’s best competition, the Sacred Heart contingent has won eight medals thus far.
