Gators in Rio: Clark to Play for Gold, Sheldon in the Semis
Sacred Heart alumnae continue their quest for Olympic gold in water polo and volleyball
And they keep on winning!
Sacred Heart alumnae KK Clark (SHP ’08) and Denise Sheldon’s (SJS ’93, SHP ’97) quest for Olympic gold has come one step closer at the Rio Games.
Following a gritty 14-10 win over Hungary in the semifinals on Aug. 17, Clark and the U.S. Women’s Water Polo team have advanced to the gold medal game. Team USA will look to repeat as champion, as they take on Italy on Friday, Aug. 19 at 11:30 a.m. PT.
Tune into the NBC Bay Area Wednesday 6 p.m. broadcast to see a recap of the game live from Dunlevie Aquatic Center.
On the court, Sheldon’s U.S. Women’s Volleyball team continues to outmatch opponents and has a date with Serbia in the semifinals on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m. The U.S. charged past Japan 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) in the quarterfinals on Aug. 16 in its pursuit for the program’s first Olympic gold medal.

Sacred Heart is well represented in Rio this summer, as nine alumane across the international network are representing four countries in eight different sports. Among the world’s best competition, the Sacred Heart contingent has won seven medals thus far.
